Weymouth Garden Club
hello & welcome

Welcome to the Weymouth Garden Club!

Established in 1931 to promote an interest and give instructions in gardening and also to help beautify Weymouth. Our policy is to stimulate interest and share knowledge on gardening, and to serve Weymouth through community service projects which will enhance the beauty of our environment.

Dear Weymouth Garden Club Members and those interested in gardening,

Thank you all for being involved in the W.G.C. It is very gratifying to be a part of a group that works together to further our knowledge of gardening, while helping to keep Weymouth green! Each of us joined the club for different reasons but have a common interest about the love of gardening. Many of you have interests and skills in horticulture, conservation, education or technology knowledge and we encourage you to share your talents by participating in one of the club's committees. Every member is encouraged in become actively involved in what the club has to offer.

This involvement includes caring for the Abigail Adams Green, planting Daffodils to welcome Spring to our community, providing garden therapy at a nursing home and hosting a yearly plant sale.

Have fun and Enjoy!

Weymouth Garden Club - Spring 2019

The Weymouth Garden Club is wrapping up its 88th year. The year has included talks on composting, bulbs, and healing properties of herbal teas. We had hands on workshop on making Kokedamas, moss balls using various houseplants. The club also visited the A.D. Makepeace Company for a cranberry bog tour as well as to the Isabella Gardner Museum.

In October we participated in the yearly Pumpkin Give-a-Wey and did our fall cleanup of the Abigail Adams Green. We had our annual wreath sale and holiday luncheon in December. Monthly Garden Therapy continues at the Pope Nursing Home and the town libraries continue to receive floral arrangements from club members.

Our final few months of this year include a talk on roses at our meeting on 4/13, participation in the "Art in Bloom" at the MFA, 4/26-29, spring cleanup of Abigail Adams Green on 4/27 and a much anticipated field trip to the Cochato Nursery on 6/1. Our annual Plant Sale will take place on May 18th. The proceeds from last year's sale allowed us to give two $1,000 scholarships to Weymouth residents.

It has been a busy year and we look forward to what the next year will bring.
